What makes a Swamp Camp special?
It is not just the games, the songs, the activities, or even the setting. It is the culture created when people intentionally make room for young people to belong, grow in faith, and learn to serve others.
Building that culture takes more than good intentions. It takes people who know how to cultivate it and equip others to carry it forward.
That is why trainers are essential to the work of Swamp Corps.
Trainers bring experience, guidance, and practical knowledge to the people establishing and leading camps. They help local leaders understand the camp culture, develop their leadership, and learn how to create an environment where relationships, spiritual formation, and service are central.
Their role goes beyond leading activities. They help prepare others to lead well.
Through the Swamp Corps process, experienced leaders work alongside local teams, building their confidence and equipping them to take increasing responsibility for the camp. The long-term vision is not dependent on visiting teams, but locally led camps that can continue serving young people for years to come.
But getting trainers where they are needed requires resources. Travel, training, and the practical costs of serving across borders all need to be covered.
What does it take to send one trainer?
A trainer is an experienced camp director who can train a camp’s staff and its other directors. Sending one costs about $2,500 to $3,000, which covers their flight, camp fees, transportation, and lodging. That figure assumes a trainer serving a camp near their own region of the world, which is always our first choice.
Our goal is to fund trainers for at least four locations every year, about $12,000 in all. The exact need varies from year to year with each camp’s situation and who is available to go.
Without that support, opportunities to equip local leaders can be limited.
With it, the impact can multiply.
A trainer invests in a counselor. That counselor invests in a camper. That camper may one day become a leader who invests in someone else. Over time, what begins as one person’s willingness to serve can become a pattern of leadership and faith passed from one generation to the next.

Because the goal has never been simply to run a camp. The goal is to equip people who can keep making a difference long after the trainers have gone home.
When we invest in those who equip others, the impact can reach far beyond one week.

We will do our best to honor your request; however, all donations are subject to the organization's Gift Acceptance Policy. The Organization will treat the donor’s designations as suggestions unless the Board of Directors has approved of the designations before receiving the gift. Copies of the policy are available upon request.
